    R-59 Battery Covers

Question , does a battery cover for a maintenance-free Delco that makes it look like the top of an R-59 exist? If yes, who sells them and how much?
    Thank You!

    Re: R-59 Battery Covers

    Don,
I'm at work but I think it was called Battery Topper and I paid approx $30.00 about 4 years ago. It even came with the warning label attached to one of the top posts. Try a Google search.

P.S. Thanks for the french lock info

      Re: R-59 Battery Covers

Corvette Central sells a "Delco or Exide "Tar Topper" Battery Cover". It describes it as "provides vintage appearance yet allows use of modern Delco or Exide Group 24 batteries. Molded polymer replica top cover of original tar top style batteries.
The Corvette Central part number is #171063 and the price is $24.95
If you have a recent catalog, it is on page 26 and shows a color photo.

There is also one for use with an Optima top post battery at$28.95, part #171169.
      Hope this helps you out.

How do the battery covers do in judging? *NM*

If the judges don't look too close I've seen them miss it. Otherwise I believe it is a 50% deduction.

Re: How do the battery covers do in judging?

I had to remove my Battery Topper to prove that I had a Delco Battery under it to receive only a 50% deduction. Had I left it on it was going to receive a 100% deduction because I removed the delco stickers from the sides of the case.
