1966 Rear End Code

My question is about a "FB" rear end code for the '66 Corvette. My books show that it is a 4.11 Posi. that came with the 427 motors.

Can anyone tell me if it only came with the 425hp "L72" and was not available with the 390hp option motor?

I'm surprised no one answered.

4.11 was available with 427-425 hp as the "Special Purpose" ratio.

4.11 was available with 327-350 hp and 2.20 close ratio four speed as the "Mountain" ratio.

It was not available with the 427-390 hp or the 327-300 hp.

At least, this is true of the standard offerings. Many things could be avaialble if a customer pushed the dealer hard enough.
