I need some help please! I am getting ready to bond my front hood surround to the driver fender and need what I believe is a crucial measurement. The passenger fender has not been reattached yet. I am worried about the front nose height being too high or low when I do the fiberglass repairs. Before I started the cosmetic work on the car, I lifted the body off the frame, restored the frame, and replaced the front crossmember that supports the radiator (the old one was rusting apart). The problem I have is that there seems to be no reference to the height of the front crossmember. As you know, the frame horns that hold the crossmember have extra large holes in them for adjustment. Can you tell me how to set the correct height for the front crossmember?

Re: **'72 Front crossmember height**
I think you should worry about the hood to surround fit and not worry too much about the cross member. It can be adjusted, but after you bond to the innerfender, you are stuck with what you got. Install the hindges and maybe even the hood if you want and fit the surround, innerfenders, and hood together. Bond and then adjust everything else to it.- Top

Re: **'72 Front crossmember height**
I was a little curiuos about how to set this crossmember as well because it's adjustment will determine if the nose section is preloaded up...down...or if it is adjusted correctly, with no preload at all. I wonder how the factory set it up and if I'm not mistaken, there are shims that may or may not be installed between this crossmember and the rad support for minor adjustments. Any thoughts...?- Top
