I'm trying to determine if the distributor (with tach drive) taken out of my 1970 LT-1 by the last owner is the original. If so, I'd like to rebuild it rather than replace it. The stamp on the red part number/date tag aluminum band wrapped around the shaft reads 1111491 DELCO REMY 0 F 10. As I understand it, this means the build date for this part was 6/10/70. The car was bulit in 7/70. This would all make sense except that, according to information provided on CorvetteMagazine.com, the 1111491 part number was supposedly used in the base 350/350 hp engine, not the 350/370 hp L-T1. I would have expected the original distributor for this car to have either part number 1111496 or 1111971.
I'm also having trouble getting the main shaft out. The gears on the shaft and the tach drive are damaged. So both components will need to be replaced. This is the first time I doing this, so any advice or information would be helpful. Thanks.
