search for last owners

Hello,

To get a complete story for my corvette, I am looking for the last owner(s) of it. Where can I search for this on the net?
The car is last registrated in New York. From there it went to Germany in 1996/1997. 2001 it came to the Netherlands, where we bought it.
VIN code is: 194675S104084, silver pearl.
In the original owners guide there is mentioned a previous owner, called F. Hensel. Maybe this will help.

This is a difficult task, Twan. Stateside, cars are registered State by State and owners often move from one State to another. Different States have different rules regarding record retention and disclosure.

In some States, records only go back 5-10 years and when they reach the record retention limit, data is simply 'dumped'... Other States have privacy laws that restrict what information can be given out, to whom and for what reason(s). Some spend YEARS trying to back track the ownership chain of their Corvette only to hit frustrating dead end(s)!

So you don't have the advantage of knowing the original dealer (like we do up here), and will have to do the bull-work (crossed-fingers will help) that Jack H. deacribes.
