Guys,
Sometimes it is really true, take a look at this:
The box has a number of 6428065 and has penciled on in "Defective" and "Vette".
On the other side of the box it says:
AC Spark Plug Division
General Moters Corporation
Flint, Michigan 48556
The inside flap of the box has a date of 7/3/84 so I know it is a replacement.
But inside is a used fuel sender which looks like the original on my 67.
Tested it out and it only reads 5 to 20 ohms. Took the variable resistor apart and all I saw was dirt on the contact and a dirty winding with no gaps. Won't take long to clean this up to read 0 to 90 ohms. The filter sock is in perfect shape.
And all for $46.00 plus $10 shipping.
I'd like to apologize to the 2nd bidder whom I think is a NCRS member and on this forum. I just couldn't resist this since I had to solder together my original unit a few months ago; I'm sure it is not going to last too long.
Having fun,
