Two questions, Does this car have a rev limiter. When driving car hard on the gas the gear box moves up and down a good inch. Never felt that before.

Yes, the 1996 LT4 definitely has a "rev limiter". It cuts off fuel when engine RPM exceeds a certain point. I believe that "certain point" is at or just above the "red-line" limit.

If by "gear box moving up and down" you are talking about the shifter moving up and down (and, with it, the gear box since the shifter is an integral part of the ZF transmission), then you've got something wrong. All that "driving [the] car hard on the gas" has likely broken something, most likely an engine or transmission mount.

Thank You Joe, I was at or in the red when the car shut down so that takes care of that question. I will get the car in and get all the mounts checked tomorow.

LT 4

I had a new LT4.ran great .Had to replace the hyd.clutch cylinder.& all the roller rockers under warranty..Bill

I beleive it is set at 6475 RMP..... I had 96 Collector LT4. Measrued with a HyperTeck and it showed that as stock..

they had some roller rockers

that the roller tip axle were coming loose so GM had a call back to replace them. i bet crane ate the cost because they made the rockers
