Who to rebuild 1957 dual quad four barrels?

Carbs are 2626S and 2627S WCFB originals. I can do the rebuilding myself, but not the Dichromate and the replating of the arms and levers. Also my carbs are missing the air valves over the secondaries. These are the butterflies with the weight that only open up when there is enough air flow.

Also the now open hole for those butterfly shafts was enlarged and threaded for a screw in plug. So the carb bowl body needs a repair there to make it look right. It would work fine as is, only the ugly enlarged threaded holes would be visible behind the weight. By the way, this came off a 1958 Vette stock 283 Powerglide, the owner said it bogged bad with any amount of throttle.

I am considering Bob Kunz and Custom Rebuilt Carbs in New Jersey. Any one care to offer advice on this, or have another suggestion. The basic restoration charge is about $325.

Phil at Custom carbs in N.J. is a real nice guy, Very helpful, always took the time to answer my phone calls peronally, although I had to send my WCFB back and forth 5 times and it is still not right. I Finally gave up on him and the damn carb and bought another! I'll send the "Custom Carb" rebuilt one down to Bob Kunz when I get the time.

        Chris,
I would not hesitate to recommend Eaglehead Restorations in Manassas, VA. Dick Katter restored the WCFB on my '65 and it is beautiful. It looks like is belongs in a China cabinet instead of on an automobile.

        Dick's contact number is (703) 754-7547.

        Good luck,
        Gene

You should also check out Daytona Parts Company www.cartercarb.com. I purchased the rebuild kits for my 57 carbs from them. They were very nice to deal with, and they were extremely helpful when I called back with questions.
Also, Chuck Smith Chevys www.chucksmithchevys.com helped me out with some small clips that I needed for the linkage. I took the low cost alternitive and used Eastwood paint for the carb bodies and linkage, and they came out great. They won't pass NCRS judging standards, but they are good enough for now.
