Re: Welcome to eBay!!
Bill is correct..they are not easy to find..especially the low beams which were used more often and burned out.
If you really need them try buick and oldsmobile clubs..members usually have some stashed away.
if you see a 58/59 GM parts car..and the original T3's are still there..buy them!- Top

Re: Welcome to eBay!!
Chris
If you bought a set of original 58/59 T3's lo or high beams with the raised Guide just above the triangle for $35..you got a bargain.
They will bring $100 - $200 each.
If you have a source to buy some..buy them all...especially the lo beams.- Top

Re: What is so special about this bulb?
Try finding a 55 Corvette bulb , there were three different designs,
First= tin back 12V with no 12V logo in the glass
Second = tin back having the 12V logo in the glass
Third = seal beam all glass also having the 12V logo in the glass.
The third design is the hardest to locate because it cant be repaired, I would set it's price at $500.00 each
Any of the three designs are rarely ever for sale and most 55 owners and the JM don't know which design goes on what # car any way and the point loss is also small.
The pic. is the first design with only a sticker saying 12V they are NOS as my other design bulbs.

Coupla years ago I saw scads of these...
I was at a junkyard specializing in truck parts, and they had a whole row of old school busses. I don't remember if they had the clear or lined triangle, but since school busses hardly ever drive at night, abouyt 3/4 of the bulbs were original T3's.- Top

Re: Welcome to eBay!!
Chris...62 T-3's would have a clear field behind the T3 in the triangle..and no raised guide just above the triangle.
Sounds like you bought the correct bulbs.
T3's can still be purchased for cheap at salvage yards..but are certainly becoming scarce as time goes by. It takes time to pull them and then most of what you find are high beams..and bulbs not worth buying ( dark or clouded )
So when you find someone who has gone through the trouble to do the legwork to find them and you buy tested old bulbs..it is usually the way to go.
Or buy the Lectric limited repos..with the DOT.
I talked to the guy who went through all the work to repo the T3's. He said it was very time consuming and costly...and he still was required to add DOT to the bulb.

There are two issues here...
(1) Is the center triangle clear or does it have vertical lines? They continued to make these lamps into the Shark era but the vertical lines inside the triangle came on-stream in later years.
(2) Is the 'Guide' emboss above the triangle or moved to the bottom/center of the lamp? Only the early version of the lamps had 'Guide' above the triangle and this is considered factory concours correct for '58-60E cars. The emboss moved to the bottom of the lamp for '60L-67 production.- Top
