Recovered Stolen Vette Story on CNN

    Good morning!

As I sit hear catching up with my world news on CNN, they've had pictures and an interview with the man whose '68 Corvette (silver on red BB convertible) was stolen in '69 and recently recovered by customs/police in CA in a shipping crate headed for Sweden. If this story doesn't sound familiar, there is a long thread discussing this event below.

Alan Poster is the original owner. Is he ecstatic? Whoa! Like finding money - a LOT of money.

There were some questions re. current ownership, and apparently this car has been given back to him - no strings attached - because it was originally uninsured! AHA!

There was some speculation that the car has been in storage all these years. No, there are 60K more miles on it now. So someone has been driving it. They also insinuated that it now has a new engine/trans. Although the car looks VERY nice, the owner says he wants to go through it and restore it back to original.

On the contrary. I felt VERY classy thing to do to give the car to his daughter. She'll have a great memory and continue on with history and love of these cars. What better story will she have than the stolen 69 which her family got back, and Dad turned over to her. She'll save the wave, get a boyfriend out of it.

She's jailbait and in the Republik of Kalifornia, so they won't even kill you, just leave you to spend the rest of your life as Bubba's woman.

Don't worry guys, if she gets that Vette she'll be dead before she's 17 anyway.

Shes got youth on her side, I'm 54, but I was 17 when I had my first Vette (58) 270 HP. I'm still around have my hair, teeth and flat stomach. Course I played rock and roll for a no. of years, never forgot my youth. Don't underestimate these kids. Theyre smarter, better looking and more mature than we were. Hang in there darlin'. My generation can't go back, so now lot of a ol duffs like me are buyin their mid-life crisis. Some of us fortunate enough to experience while young. As Bette Midler said F--- 'em if they can't take a joke.

He better wait to restore it, because she will drive that car for a week before it gets wrecked.

                  Does age really matter??

Very amazing story I'd have to say. I vote he gives it to his daughty. I was 16 when I got my first Corvette (1964 matching numbers 327/powerglide coup with Air---one of 48 cars ever made before adding in the opptions)and I didn't kill myself. I drive it 6 out of 7 days a week in the spring, summer, and fall, and have never even been pulled over by an Officer (maybe that's because I've never had the car over 65mph??). I'm 20 now, and I feel that teenages aren't given enough respect. I guess it's just because of the teens who are idiots that ruin it for the rest of us... Anyhow, that's my 2 cents.
P.S. Does anyone have her number? If she get's that Corvette she's going to need a date for prom.... Just playing all.

I imagine they are already lining up to be the date at the prom.
