    62 Sill Molding

My 62 has bolt holes in the bottom of the aluminum sill molding but no holes in the fiberglass sill which appears to be original. Do the 62 sill moldings use bolts on the bottom? Most vendors provide a bolt kit.

I'm assuming you're talking about the rocker panel molding--the sill plate is the piece that is visible only when the door is open. Your sillrocker area has apparently been damaged and replaced, or someone along the line simply filled the holes. Without the bolts along the bottom edge (where the holes in the rocker panel molding are) the molding will very quickly wear through the paint because of the movement of the panel against the body. The bolts are simply 1/4x20 bolts--unless the vendor is selling them with a "T", and "E", plain, or with some other original head marking, you can save much money on them at a hardware store.

      Hi Greg

If you are talking about sill plates which are under the door and lay flat. And when sitting in the car you can see them along the bottom inside of the door. Yes they do take screws.Your holes might of gotten filled in.

Just place it down and drill new holes'

      Good luck...John

Yes, Rocker Panel Molding is what I am asking about. The molding itself shows no sign that bolts have been used to hold them tight. Is it possible that someone on the line forgot to drill the holes and add the bolts? Regardless I will drill the holes and add the bolts.

          Greg--
What is the VIN of your car, and what are the rocker panel moldings like--all aluminum, or with black paint giving them "stripes"?

Was hoping it would be early car with later moldings that would verify replacement--but somewhere around 7500 they started phasing out the unpainted rocker moldings. #7743 appears to have come from the factory with an unpainted left and painted right. Wish I could help you more Greg--I've never seen a 62 (other than one damaged in the rocker area that didn't have the holds. (and I've looked at probably 2000 over the last 32 years)
