From a 67, not sure what the 61 means.

      Pete,
My guess is that we will be able to tell the difference. Most of the foreign made items really don't look right either.

Jerry - Thanks for the photo. Nice shot. 61 is most likely the mold number. The one I'm looking at has an 18. Pete

Adam, what 54 engine do they have a repo for? I couldn't find one. Thanks.

Bob, Sorry, I have no idea. Contact Zip.
The part discussed in this thread Zips lists as 1957 -1974.

              Re: LIke this one Pete

Justin @ ZIP grabbed one off the shelf and reports the following:

              1) Delco Remy stamp underneath with the words Made in USA" stamped in-between.

              2) A stamped mold number 71(?) similar to what Gerald and Peter touched on.

So, if it's stamped Made in the USA, is it really MADE IN THE USA?

Don, I realize that the discussion is centered on the 57-74. However, since the title thread states 54-74, I presumed you have additional information relevant 54-56 as well.

                  Re: Repop D-R 308

Adam - If it isn't MADE IN USA and it's embossed as such, I'd expect someone could make a federal case out of it. Anyway, I guess the bottomline is beware of Delco-Remy PATENT PENDING distributor caps with 71 embossed on the inside.

Also, as someone else pointed out, the cap usage started in 1957 and as far as I know thru 1968. Advertizing license, I guess. Pete

In my original post, my typo was '54-'74. Meant '57-'74.
