    Which old fart (first) can tell me what Oil Shedders are and do?

    my guess they are the inverted steel cup placed between the valve spring and the retainer

      My guess 1. valve guide seals 2. non- foulers, from another old f---.

        I believe I have only come across them once. What I found once on an worn out engine was these strange spark plug extensions that actually kept the plug back and out of the cylinder head pocket. The intention was to prevent oil from getting on the plug. Sort of weird...you screwed the spark plug into them and then you screwed the whole assembly into the spark plug hole. I guess they worked a little bit. Wonder if this is what you are talking about. Terry

          Clem! You the man old fart , Right they are a steel cup on top of the valve springs that the spring cap and locks holding it on. Early valves dint use them.
          They shedder or red the oil away from running down the valve stem .

            terry: the part you refer to was an aftermarket device sold to decrease oil fouling of plugs on worn out engines. they weren't GM pieces. regards, mike

              roy i owned brand new 55 chevy V-8s and i know when we changed cams and valve springs they were not on the original engines, they came later. the "O" rings around the valve stem stopped the oil that ran down thru the gap in the valve keys.
