Oil filter canister ass'y, for PF141

Looking for comments on the repro oil filter canisters now being sold by Paragon, others. Are they decent in form/fit/function? 'Flight' judging is not a concern. My existing OEM canister no longer exerts spring pressure on the filter & is getting rather dinged up at the mating surface. Thanks.

Send your original to Ken Hansen at Orindales and let him restore it for you. His work is perfect. 713-783-0815

From a "form, fit, and functionality" perspective, I think that you won't be disappointed, at all; I think the reproduction will work perfectly.

I've been told that the repro cannister is thinner than the originals.

I have one of the canisters from Paragon and it is slightly thinner (the walls) than my original. I saw the refurbed canisters from Orindales at Carlisle last year. They looked real good. Also, canisters appear on ebay from time to time.

Also when Ken Hansen restores yours, He installs a snap ring on the shaft so that you can disasemble it if needed.

Assuming that the cone & spring assembly are functioning properly, how high above the canister should the filter element sit when it is dropped in? I seem to remember ~3/8", but I'm not sure. Thanks.

I have not done one of this type in so long that I don't remember.

I will be putting a few originals on ebay next month. I bought a case back in 1979 and only used one.

                        James,
How much do you want for the canister?

                        Thanks,

Why not just replace the spring? Or at the worse, just buy another old cannister somewhere. They can be found cheap. Only restorers use them, most change to spin on filters.
