I am in the process of restoring a 65 big tank car and would appreciate any info pretaing to the big tank option. In particular 1 how is the interior area behind the seats finished, carpet, vinyl, paint, or combination, 2 is the fan for the rear vents deleted with the big tank, and 3 was separate wiring run to the tank for the fuel gauge sending unit. rather than using the regular wiring harness?

Neil -- Kevin's '64 photo shows the general detail, but I wish I had an original carpeted example to figure out the dimensions behind the seats and up both edges ('65 wheelhouse carpet asm. chart # 3868794).
Mine is an early '65 (Nov 6 trim tag -- first day production after the strike) and the UAW boys got lazy the last few days before the Sept-Nov walkout and spliced the 36 gal sender harness into the main rear harness opposite your left hip, rather than carry it forward to the under-dash plug. BTW, the '64 and '65 tankers used the rear convertible wiring harness as there was no blower wiring required.
If you need any specific pics or questions, I can email per your request.- Top
