    C2 Glass

The '65 roadster we are restoring needs all new glass. Who makes the best?

    Thanks,

    Mark

I'm not certain, but I get the impression that there may be only one actual manufacturer of dated C-2 side/rear glass. This may not be the case with windshields tho.

My guess is NOBODY makes the 'best' reproduction glass. The last 3-4 guys in our chapter who purchased reproduction glass (windshields) bought from several sources and NO source provided dimensionally correct glass!

When laid side by side against a factory original windshield (pitted, but removed intact), each of the reproductions was off geometrically. Some as much as +1/8-inch which caused the glass gasket to 'pucker' and keep the reveal moldings from sitting flush. Each owner took his reproduction windshield to a local glass company to have the edges 'shaved' based on marking the glass against the factory original. Once the repro glass was 'trimed', it installed like a glove!

In the '67-'69 Camaro side of my hobby, Pilkington Glass is hands-down superior to any other repro glass manufacturer; they bought LOF years ago, and have a VERY active "vintage glass" operation - correct peripheral shape, curvatures, thicknesses, tint patterns, accurate logos, etc. Don't have their site URL handy, but Google "Pilkington Glass" and you'll find it. Don't know where OEM glass or Auto City Glass gets theirs.
