I have a feeling that's a casting number, not a part number, for a 327 piston which would have been released around 1965. Probably the replacement design for all 62 to 68 327's. I can't find that number in any listing that I have.

I have a domed piston/pin still in the box I ordered from a chevy dealer way back when for a 327, 365.
box# is 3871208, raised # on piston top is 3866954

Thought so. Thanks Joe. That part number would have been released just about April 1965 so it would be the replacement for the 62-65 early design. I believe that same part number continued through the 70's and into the 80's before finally being discontinued by GM. It's the correct original number for all 65-68 Sp. H/Per 327's with std bore and the replacement number for 62-early 65.
