    C2:67 Windshield Washer Nozzles

Found my original 1967 washer nozzles in the garage and fiqured I'd refurb them.
(I put replacements on about 15 years ago when these got all plugged up).

Anyone know what the drill gage for the nozzle holes were?

I wouldn't go anywhere near them with a drill bit. A couple drops of PB Blaster a little time and a pin should get those brass balls moving.

Like Mike, I use the tip cleaners. Using the smallest one is best as it bends easy and works best. I tell owners who are getting their cars judged to have a set in the tool box. Can be used to unclog the nossles when they are on the car if necessary.

I agree with Brian, soak them in PB Blaster for a week, it worked for me.

            Jerry,

The PB Blaster works well to free up the brass ball so that you can adjust direction of spray. Another suggestion to clear the deposits out would be to soak them in white wine vinager (stuff works great on cleaning hard water deposits etc.).

              Hi Jerry:

The holes in the nozzles are about 35 mils in diameter, which corresponds to a #65 drill. However, I agree with the other posters that using a drill can cause damage if you are not careful.

When I was cleaning some original nozzles, I used a piece of wire to clean out the nozzle. However, the wire was too soft to exert much force when I tried to get the ball to rotate. For that, I did use a drill, but all I did was insert the shank (not the business end) into the ball so I could apply a little more force to break it free.

If you decide to try using the business end of a drill to clean out the nozzle, I suggest that you start with a smaller drill such as a #67 (32 mils) and turn the drill gently by hand. You don't want to damage the brass.

By the way, I found that the both the brass and the chrome surfaces clean up very nicely with a small brass wire wheel on a Dremel tool. The wire wheel gets into all the little contours of the brass portion and makes them shine like new.
