This is just a quick post to conclude my earlier threads on the feel of the new LUK clutch I recently installed in my 67 SB. Original thread linked below. After I replaced my GM clutch plate and disk with a new LUK set, I noticed that the pedal felt stiffer and engagement was more problematic. Since clutch force and engagement was fine and smooth with the old parts, I didn't ever imagine (or had forgotten) that years ago I had placed the clutch push rod on the pedal in the "fast" position. Turns out I had, so when I moved the pivot to the normal position the clutch now operates smoothly and with less effort. I believe that I had moved the linkage to the fast position years ago because in the normal position the clutch was barely releasing at full travel.
A side benefit of replacement of the clutch parts is that I now have more adjustment range in the linkage. Earlier I had been at the extreme end of adjustment travel, but now I have about a 1/2" to go! The LUK clutch has a noticeable faster engagement/disengagement requireing less travel of the linkage. I also learned during this process (discussed in an earlier thread too in the 2nd link below) that switching to the longer clutch ball stud was a mistake and I had to switch back to the correct shorter stud. Now that I have all the right for 67 parts installed, things seem to work just fine!
