    c2 clutch pedal vibration

I have a vibration in my clutch pedal in the first 2-3" of travel. (400 small block) There is no vibration when the clutch is fully engaged, or when the pedal is all the way up. It feels like the throwout bearing is wobbling. I have a new clutch, (Luk) pressure plate, flywheel, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing. It has all been balanced. The throwout bearing is properly installed on the clutch fork. (it is the same length as the old one) The cross shaft linkage is well lubed, and tight, and has all the proper springs connected. The clutch does not chatter, and there is no throwout bearing noise. I have about 150 miles on it so far.
Any ideas as to what could be causing the vibration?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Re: c2 clutch pedal vibration

I'm not familiar with LUK products, but it sounds like either bad fingers on the pressure plate or throw out bearing heading south.

Not the first time that "new" parts tank.

    Just wild guesses Paul

I hope it's simple whatever it is.

      Re: I'm assuming

That the 2 to 3 inches of travel you speak of is when you first go to disengage the clutch, and not engaging the clutch.

If the TO bearing is correctly installed on the fork (it is easy to screw up), then you have bent pressure plate fingers. I had uneven pressure plate fingers and the clutch pedal vibrated like made when engaging the clutch, In fact, they were so uneven, I had to add a ton of free play.

I bought another RepSET (identical) and everything was good. You can be sure that I bolted the pressure plate to the flywheel and checked the height of each finger before I reinstalled.

Don't know wheter the my problematic set came uneven from the factory or I boogered it up trying to actuate the clutch with a pipe connected to the fork. It might have been me that bent the fingers.

If you can fully eliminate the fork/bearing fit and the TO bearing itself, it's time for you to pull the tranny. Sorry.....

Be sure to check flywheel runout too while it is installed on the crank. You never know......
