I think the poster probably didn't take a close look at the letter, the font for the G & C are hard to distinguish on those trim plates.

Frank, the "G" month is often read as a "C". Common mistake. See the JG.

If you look at the bid history, 19 bids were submitted by 9 different people. It's hard to believe that there are that many people out there who are willing to throw that amount of money at a spare tire.

According to the judging sheets, all five tires are worth 30 originality points. I guess that means that at spare tire is worth 30/5=6 points. If I understand the Judging Reference Manual, an OEM repro tire would receive a 20% deduction over a perfect original. This would be 6x.2=1.2 points.

Bottom line (if I understand correctly), this guy paid $2400 to pick up 1 judging point. Assuming an OEM repro tire costs about $200. Besides all this, if he ever has to use the spare to get home it will probably fail!

The best way to stop the insanity is to stop buying over priced parts on eBay. This goes for the big swap meets, too. Just say no! Thanks for the opportunity to vent.
