    New C2 Registry.

    Good day Rob,

I think your Registry is a very good idea. Nice job. I tried to register my two C2's. I think the site needs a few tweaks.(1)I registered my 66 but the 67 Owner info will not register because the site defaults to the 66 cars.(2)You should take out the word "previous" in the Owner information title. It's confusing when you are the current owner trying to post your own name.(3)You should define what "job number" you are looking for. Body line job number, Assembly Line sequence number,Tank Sticker number, any other number.....the definition will help people to understand what number should be posted.(4)The 67's used Bolt on wheels, not knock offs.(5)What "nickname" information do you want? That's all for now....I'll try to post my 67 owner information later.....best regards.

    Re: New C2 Registry.

    Rob,

I hope you are feeling better. I know your were not feeling well for a while. The Birthday Calculator on your C2 registry does not match the Corvette Birthday Book which is available from the NCRS store.(2nd Edition) With respect to my 66 and 67 I believe the Corvette Birthday book is correct as several posters to this Board have confirmed in the past. Maybe someone can comment further. For example my 67 is VIN: 15629. The Corvette Birthday Book shows April 6th and your C2 Registry shows April 4th. Similarly, my 66 is VIN: 23812. The Birthday Book shows June 10th and your C2 Registry shows June 9th.

      C2 Registry Birthday Calculator

I agree with Rick. My '63 is off by 4 days (August 6th should be August 2nd).

        Re: C2 Registry Birthday Calculator

Pete and Rick, there will be differences. Some will be valid and some will not. As I understand, some tweaking will be done.

The birthday book is NOT 100 percent correct. I know that Rob has received some documentation that show actual plant open days that are considered plant closed days by the Birthday Book. My 63 is off by one day according to the book and correct on the new system.

Updating information - New C2 Registry

I'm having some difficulty myself updating my information. I sent EMAIL to the webmaster but just so that everyone is aware....

            When you press "Change Corvette":
            - my "Engine Details" disappear and I have to retype before pressing "Save"
            - I don't appear to be able to update the "Other Details". After typing additional information and pressing "Save", I don't see the update on the main link for my car.
            - "Other Deatils" area appears to be adding HTML code for line breaks

If I'm doing something wrong I hope someone will tell me.

I think it is a great site and definitely needed in the community.

              Re: C2 Registry Birthday Calculator

So, my body temperature has drop to a more acceptable level of 37 degrees Celsius so I can start answering questings again. Currently the registry birthday calculator considers Saturday also as a working day which might cause some of the differences noticed. I just received the NCRS birthday book which indicates the Saturday was a non-working day. I still didn't got any firm statement on this from any formal worker, till then I leave it as it is.

I've called for people to let me know if they have evidence of a certain car being build on a particular day to make the calculator more accurate but so far not many people responded. I would recon much more (c2) owners must have dropped their tank and got hold of thei build sheet which could provide this information but unfortunate it hasn't been passed to me yet.

If anyone possesses additional build evidence or information on unusual non-working days (e.g. strikes, production change over days, etc.) or unusual working days let me know.

              greetings,
              Rob.

Which VIN are we talking about so I can check what happened?

                  Jack,

I'll have a look at this evening and let you know when this is corrected. Thanks for providing this feedback. It enables me to correct these findings, otherwise I wouldn't know about them and people just get annoyed...

                  greetings,

changed to 193677s104220 and I could not change it. I still entered my name but It was not saved.

                      Rob,

Glad to see you are feeling better. I believe all the research has already been done with regard to working days, holidays, strikes ect.....The Corvette Birthday Book has already taken these into consideration. As it seems it is almost impossible to to accurately pinpoint the final assembly date of A O SMITH bodied cars, might I suggest you leave the Birthday Calculator as an "option" for Registrars to access at their discretion. I don't believe the "Tank Stickers" would provide any relevent information regarding final assembly date. I will try to enter info on my 66 and 67 again.

                        Re: C2 Registry Birthday Calculator

Rick, I will disagree that the Birthday Book is correct on the working days. I know there were Saturday's during the 1963 run that were working days that the Birthday Book has as non-working days.

Saying that, all we can do is hope that members with proof positive documentation make it available to update the book and the available WEB available Birthday software. On the AOS bodies, I tend to agree with you that it almost impossible to accurately pinpoint the exact date. Again, proof positive VIN documentation will help refine this area.

                          Harry,

It would be nice if someone could comment on the 2nd Edition Corvette Birthday Book information as written up by Dennis Moore and sold by the NCRS store. Each bit of information would serve to make the book all the more accurate.

                            Rick -

There's no reason it would be any more difficult to establish the St. Louis final assembly date for an A.O. Smith-bodied car vs. a St. Louis-bodied car; both got their VIN assigned and affixed at the same station on the St. Louis Trim Line, and it's the VIN that determines the final assembly date, not the trim tag body build date.
