    '72 Washer Pump Connector

Help. It has been my understanding that my April '72 "should" have barrel connectors on the washer pump. It does not. Instead it has spade connectors. I Figured that a previous owner must have spliced the current spade connector into the wireing harness. But I've unwrapped a 12" of the harbness and everyting looks original, not splices.

    1) Should an April '72 have the spade or barrel connectors for the WS Washer ?
    2) Were the barrel connectors wired in or were they some kind of additonal harness?

Thnaks for an assistance. I've checked the Restorer CD and the archives and have found very little...

I don't know if this will help but all 73's had barrel connectors and they did not have an additional harness. In later years they had spade connectors. Could the harnees be a replacement?

As I recall from my '72, the '56 series (spade) connections were used in '72. Mine was the last week of production.

I have 2 '72's - an early and a late. The early car is all original and has the barrels. The late car is the one that appears to have always had the spade caonnectors. I have a buddy whos late '72 has the spade connectors.

I wonder if there was a running change sometime in '72 from barrel to spade and then back to barrel by '73 ???? Does that make sense ???

I ask a friend who has 2 July built 72,s and both had barrel connectors. I would check the crimp on the spade connectors to see if they are rolled over like the factory crimp. I know of no hand tool that will make it look like factory. Lots of replacement pumps had spade connectors and I am sure many were changed with a hand crimper.

            Lyle ... Thanks !!!

I poped the connectors out of the plastic holder and sure enough ... they've are soldered on ... don't think the factory ever did that ...
