Re: String inside radio?
Amazingly, it is called dial string and/or dial cord, depending on who you talk to.
Back when TV shops were everywhere, it was easy to get as every shop had a spool or two and every electronics supply company sold it.
In days of Radio Shack, eBay, and disposable radios and TVs, finding a TV/radio shop is a bit harder. If you find one, odds are very good they have the cord. Buy a longer piece than you need, as you will be surprised how short it can suddenly get if you make a mistake.- Top

Tell you the truth, I had a long piece of it in my desk drawer and it was always there when I was trying to clean up. It survived about 10 years and then suddenly I took a chance and tossed it. Now look at me...at that time I got it from some small Delco hole in the wall radio shop. They are gone now. Terry- Top
