C3: Proper 1970 Headlight Support Bracket color

In the middle of restoring a 70 LT-1 (body on)....and have bead blasted/painted all of the original parts I have removed from this car. My judging manual has been very helpul in explainig the proper original finishes or colors of most components, however I do not see anything that describes what the correct color/finish is supposed to be for the headlight support brackets..?

Are they supposed to retain their natural aluminum finish/color when originally installed or were these painted black.

Any advice on the correct color would be appreciated.

Chuck:

The headlight support brackets were a combination of body color overspray and black out overspray. Probably more black overspray showing on underside of brackets than elsewhere.
