C-1 fuel pump

I hate to ask a stupid question, but were any 62 vettes equipped with a electric fuel pump. I just got my car not to long ago and was poking around under it today. I found what looks like an electric fuel pump mounted to the frame about half way down the passenger side. It looks like its been there forever but it also has the regular mechanical pump on the engine. While I'm asking stupid questions, there is also a 5 ft. piece of battery cable mounted to the frame on the same side. It dosen't go to anything as it is cut on both ends. Any thoughts on this.

No PRODUCTION Corvettes were equipped with an electric fuel pump for 1962 and, even, much later. So, when was the first electric fuel pump installed on a Corvette in PRODUCTION? 1982.

it was probably a drag car sometime in it's life . the battery cable probably went to the trunk-mounted battery, which was also owner installed like the electric fuel pump. the old girl probably led an interesting life a couple decades ago. mike
