I have a broken driver side 1958 trunk spear. The piece that is missing and I do not have is 5 in. from the bottom. Does any one have any suggestions on how to fix this? If I could find a piece off of another trunk spear could that be grafted on to mine? Thanks for any help. john

Trying to repair your original trunk spear by 'grafting' on the missing portion from a donor spear is a MAJOR undertaking... You're working with rather soft pot metal that's chromed over and getting a solid adhesion at the repair joint is nearly impossible.
Even if you could pull this off, you'd still be into having the part de-chromed and re-chromed. This won't be cheap as those who will chrome plate pot metal pieces are reasonable scarce animals.
I think you're into biting the bullet and buying a reproduction spear to replace your original OR shopping hard for decent used original....
