    C1 Clutch

I have a 61 car and the clutch has no feel at all. It takes no effort to engage and disengage. Do we have the spring hooked up wrong or? I dont know what clutch is in it now, but its supposed to be new original type replacement .
    Thank you PM

    Hi Paul

Try checking the rod that pushes the clutch fork. On my 56 Chevy, I had the same problem. It turned out to be that the rods lock nut came loose and let the end of the rod back out away from the fork. All I did was turn the end of the rod till it was tight , then lock the nut against it. You will have to adjust it so your pedal engages about a couple inches from the floor.

    Good luck...John

The clutch adjustment should be made to set correct pedal free play (at least an inch) at the top of pedal travel, not where it engages coming up off the floor; if free play isn't set properly, the throwout bearing can become history in a hurry, and they're not fun to change.
