    C-2 air cleaner

Hi, I was looking at the chrome top cover of my 67 C-2 327/300 hp air cleaner. I have the original from 1967 and a AC replacement that I bought in 1970 or 1971. Looking on the underside I noticed the the wording on the stencils under the cover's are differnt. The printing appears to be rubber stamped or maybe silk screened. The original 1967 says "Service Instructions." next line," Use AC(in a circle)A212CX filter." The next line "Ac filter elements are pre-oiled for greater dust capacity." then "Do not wash or blow with air." the 1970 replacement says,"Air filter Replacement Instructions." Then "Do not wash, tap,or blow with air" then, "Replace with AC(in a circle)Type A212CW when pluged or visibly worn." then "NOTICE" "this engine equiped with Positive Crankcase Ventilation". "check system every oil change." the original has 2 old 327/300 hp decals one on top of the other. They were that way when I bought the car in 1970 or 1971. Any comments are appreciated . Dale

The wording and configuration of the underside instructions which are usually silk-screened on the cover changed several times over the years of the use of the air cleaner cover in Corvettes (1965-72)

No, I haven't had the need to use it yet. I have it "at-the-ready", though. I may experiment with it on the engine that I removed from the car when I "autopsy" it.
