Just changed the water pump in the 66 427/425. Had a heck of a time getting the inner water pump belt on. Tried the lift the pulley over the water pump hub trick with the belt attached and didnt work. Finally mounted pulley with two bolts, got belt partially on from the back and turned the engine using the harmonic balancer nut and the belt went on the rest of the way. The problem I have now is that I think the belt is too tight and I am worried about the bearing and seal in the water pump prematurely going bad. How tight should this belt really be. I re-used the old belt and all the pulleys. I realize it might loosen a bit after I run the engine but maybe not. Thanks in advance.
