    Engine id numbers

Why do I constantly see corvette engines for sale with a "D" suffix (EX: F0313D, F0161D). Some of these engines have a single digit year cast date to boot(C 8 2).
As you well know, the double digit suffix applies to vette engines (CQ,DG, CT, CR...)Am I missing something. This is a passenger car suffix from what I can tell. What's your thoughts.

On another note, looking forward to the vettefest in Chicago this weekend. Everyone going?
    Have a great day

D as pad suffix common amoung sbc's of the early 60's that were installed in pass cars. all Flint cast sbc's(one exception i've seen is a 55 265 vette pad that had double digit for the cast date), and Flint is where sbc's destined for corvette installation were cast, will have a single digit in the casting date . its the tonowanda sbcs(that were common to some chevy pass cars) that had double digit to denote year of casting. mike
