    C1 Window Regulator

Do the 58, 59, and 60 Vettes all use the same window regulator or does the 58 require a different design? Thanks. Richard

      Disagree

      Old Part books show
      Manual Regulator
      56-58 LH exc PW
      56-58 RH exc PW
      59-62 LH exc PW
      59-62 RH exc PW

with PW it is a little different
      the part book shows
      PW Regulator only
      56-62 LH w/PW
      56-62 RH w/PW

AIM shows PW motor & regulator assy
      56-57 LH w/PW
      56-57 RH w/PW
      58-60 LH w/PW
      58-60 RH w/PW
      61-62 LH w/PW
      61-62 RH w/PW

PW motors probably accounted for difference of 3 different PW varieties

John, I disagree with you. 56 thru 58 are the same and 59 thru 62 are the same. The difference is that the later have a sharper bend on the long arm.

          Re: Disagree

          Geoff,
You are correct. I was using a power regulator as a point of reference, and can not see any differences, so I just presumed that the manual regulators were the same. That however, brings up a good question, If all the regulators mount at the same place and all window cranks are at the same place, and power regulators are the same, then why wouldn't a later model manual regulator be a functional replacement? Maybe some one who has a deeper knowledge of the differences can explain what changes were made and why. As far as I am aware, the only real obvoius physical difference on 58 doors is the mounting of the inside door release is at a different location.

          Regards, John McGraw

Agree. Functionally I believe they are

interchangeable with little harm or benefit. Geoffrey

                Re: C1 Window Regulator

Agree with Paul--the sharper bend is at a slightly different spot in the arm than the other unit. They will functionally interchange. The 56-58 was mounted in a slightly different spot on the door than the 59-62, so they used the same regulator, but bent the arm more, and in a different spot, to get the angle more correct for the 59-62 change. They WILL interchange, but window function may not be quite as smooth with the "wrong" regulator.
