I need to remove the front right brake caliper and my question has to do with the proper way to disconnect the rubber brake line at the brake line junction. Do I first remove the "U" shaped fitting and then disconnect the nut? After the rubber line is disconnected, should I expect to see brake fluid draining out of the brake line until the line is plugged and what should be used to plug the line? Thanks

Re: Removing C2 Brake Caliper
No, the clip holds the rubber line fitting in a star-type hole that holds the line. Use a flare wrench to remove the metal line, then remove the clip, and remove the hose last.
Yes, fluid will run out. You can use a small ruber hose with a machine screw in the other end. Or use this as a time to drain and change brake fluid.- Top

Re: Removing C2 Brake Caliper
John, Use a small line wrench to un-screw the hard line from the rubber hose, a screwdriver will then remove the "U" shaped spring clip. I use a golf "T" to keep brake fluid from running out the hard line. The two caliper mounting bolts can now be removed. These are torqued to 120-140 ft./lbs. and if they haven't been removed in some time will be tight. Be sure to use a 6 point socket for this. Luck, Bill- Top

Re: Removing C2 Brake Caliper
John,
If you are still having trouble getting the caliper bolts off after all the PB blaster, try heating the bolts with a propane torch, let them cool, and heat them again. Then put a pipe extension on your socket set. Don't burn the garage down.
I had to do this on my 67, a few years ago, in taking the calipers off for the first time.
