64 jdging manual calls for two dimpled depresionson each side my left side has three it is a six quart pan any input would help

I think the "dimpled depressions" that they are talking about in the JG are those two which are on either side of the lower surface of the pan at the radius between the shallow, forward section of the pan and the sump. These depressions are created as part of the metal forming operation.
The vertical "depressions" that you are referring to are actual features of the dies which are used to stamp the pan are intentionally created, designed-in reinforcing elements.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
