Another eBay insanity item - AC speaker

With two hours to go, it is up to $153.59.

I bought one about a year ago on eBay for around $12.

I bought the current re-pop one for $29.00 and it works like a champ. I do believe that I will list my original one on E-bay.

Did they really have a different speaker on an AC C2? I have my original speaker from a 67 non-AC car and it looks the same as that one. I replaced it with a correct ohm replacement some time back for around $20, plus a trip to the chiropractor.

I don't know for sure if any C2s with A/C were required to use this thin speaker. My 64 is low milage and original but I can't swear that the speaker was never changed. Anyway, I dont have the thin speaker. I have the regular speaker and there is no clearance problem that I can see. I sent it out and had it reconed and it's back in the car and sounds fine.

I've seen this thin speaker also advertised on ebay under "Impala speaker for Sale".

The AIM makes no mention of any optional speaker under the A/C section or the radio section for the 1964 Corvette.

If the thin speaker truly is For A/C cars then it should be called for in the AIM or the service replacement parts catalog.

So do C2s require this speaker if they have A/C? Maybe someone on this board can answer this and tell us when it became required.

          Phil

My observation is that Ebay has become more of a "sellers market" than a place for buyers to find parts at reasonable prices....

              Not true

Anytime I sell anything, the price is always a bargain.
