I recently made a post about painting my flame orange '75 and was returned very thorough and helpful information. One of the most helpful suggestions was that before I worry about the painting, I should make sure my Vette is mechanically where I want it to be. I know many of the purists on the board discourage deviating from any original parts but my '75 has the Generation III aluminum block LS1 under the hood. However, the previous owner did not attempt to stay consistent with the "More Power" theme and did not install a high performance FIS. I think this may be where I want to invest my money first. Are there any suggestions from anyone as to what sort of FIS system I should install? And what is the expected potential cost of such a project?

Re: Fuel Injection for LS1 in a '75
GM has recently put together a 350CID crate engine which is topped with a self contained fuel injection system. All that is required to hook it up is a power wire and a fuel line. (and a tank mounted fuel pump) It is intended for use with the vortec heads, so some modification may be necessary to use it with other head designs. The injection system may be available separately. It is called a "RamJet" (obviously named for it's older cousin, the early Vette injection, and the appearance is reminiscent of the early units. The whole engine is rated at 350 HP and costs about $4000. Crate engines with the same general specs and no induction system are around $2-2.5K, so perhaps the FI unit is in the $1.5-2K range. (IF it is sold as a separate piece, I don't know if it is.) Check with your Chevy dealer.- Top

Re: Fuel Injection for LS1 in a '75
understood and stated in my post, however an LS5 is no longer in stroke than an LS4 and an LS6 no longer than an LS5. I have thought all along that the General simply pulled the engine designations , (Letters), out of a hat to some extent.
