    Re: L81 Registry Research results

Eric, Glad to see an 81' registry! My 1st Corvette was an 81'. They are great cars. I got my best friend interrested in Corvettes, so after locating a beautiful red, red 81' , he bought it. The car was top flighted two years ago even though the vin was one number later than the engine vin stamp. Only time I've ever seen that. Good luck with the registry. Bob #23,234

Bob, Thanks for the feedback. I would love to document that L81 in the registry. Does your friend surf the net? If so send him our way. I guess mistakes do happen. In my surveys I found a St. Louis trim tag that was transposed. The paint code was next to "trim" and the interior was next to "paint" The URL for that case is : http://www.l81registry.com/trimtagmystery.htm I 'm relatively new to these new cars myself. I Have spent most of my life in the pre 63 world. Including 53 #286. Eric #3,182

Your site is terrific as it addresses a much neglected series of years. Three cheers for your interest and care: the pictures were wonderful.

Thanks Paul. I have always been interested in Corvettes having restored several C1s and a couple of 63s. I was amazed at the lack of concrete info on the 81 I bought. So I though I should go out and find it! Anyway I remember the L81 quite well when it was new, but I am affraid we all felt that because it was a newer Vette, why document it. Surely the information will exsist when we need it. All we have to do is find it. Wrong. A lot of the info on the late shark cars is disappearing. After all everyone wanted a new 84 so they became used cars quickly... Anyway enough of my rambling. Thanks again. Eric #3,182
