The "Ident Number" was assigned by the plant when the order was received from the Zone and accepted for production, but the "Body Shop Job Number" scrawled on the major panels wasn't assigned until a 500-unit build schedule containing that car was put together, and those build schedules and unit sequences were developed based on many other factors (material availability, order priorities from the Zone, line balance considerations, Stop Orders in effect at the time, etc.). It's highly unlikely that any direct numerical correlation would exist between the Ident Number and the Body Shop Job Number, as they were assigned at different times and under different conditions by different groups.

Re: a/c compressor for 67 vette/EDP on tank sticke
John,
I can only speak from my own personal experience... My car has a chalk body build number of 413. My IDENT # on my original tank sticker is XXX913.
My Vin# is XXX770 and my penciled original tank sticker number is 269.
Maybe someone else will chime in with their numbers to see if mine is shear coincidence......- Top
