While at Carlisle, I was introduced to a well known corvette parts vendor. My friend told him I was looking for a Holley 2818. He said he had NOS Holley's and could restamp any dates I wanted onto one of them for $800.00 total. I now see one is on Ebay. I would rather find an original and have it rebuilt. Although, it is tempting to buy the NOS restamp and stop looking. Has anyone else seen these?? What do you think? Thanks! Dick Gutman

Re: Restamped carburetors
Dick, There are some differences in the newer 2818 carbs from a original. Memeory is failing me but I think the float bowels is one of them. Someone will chime in if I'm wrong. I sent you a email on where I got my carb from custom rebuilt carburetors maybe they have one. There cheaper then a restamp. Mike- Top

Re: Restamped carburetors
Dick,
There is a neat article on the differences in originals vs replacement Holleys in the Winter 2005 Restorer. Although the article is about 3247 Holleys, some of the same characteristics apply; slotted fuel bowl screws, slotted screws in other places, body casting differences. (somethings that are probably not judged) It took me almost a year to find the right original 3810 for my 67 on ebay. The cost of restoration of one of these older carbs to send out is around $300 w/o parts, so figure that in your purchase.

Re: Restamped carburetors
The one without a date that I saw on e-bay was a 2818 - 1. That would not be correct for a '64 regardless of the date. I've been looking for 2818 dated 392 or ealier for more than three years. I saw a restored 393 and a later one at Carlise that were in the $700 range.- Top
