    '66 40083 FUEL PUMP REBUILD

I can't seem to get the diaphram dissconnected on my 40083 pump, using the chassis service manual as a guide. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

grasp the pump in your left hand while pushing the cam-activated lever upwards. grasp the diaphram with mr right hand and twist the diaphram and its shaft outboard(relative to pump's mounting position on engine). it should "pop" right off the lever its attached to. the fun part is re-attaching the diaphram to the lever.good luck, mike

No luck dissconnecting it so far. If I can't get it off, I guess I'll have to remove the brass rivet holding the lever to the housing, but I'd rather not.
