69 Underbody Heat Shields

According the 68-69 NCRS Judging Guide, in early 1969, these 'splash shields werean off-white opaque plastic, then sometime in 1969 were replaced by metal splash shields. Just wondering what would be the correct shield for my 1969 (Aug 12/69 Build Date) Corvette? According to the Paragon catalogue, my car would be considered a late 69 and require the metal shield.

Hi Wes, Not sure when the change was but my car s/n 14848 (Jan 31/69) still has the plastic ones.

It'd be nice to receive a positive answer. My car is an Aug 7 or 8/69 build date. My '69 is a one registered owner but, I cannot easily go look at the splash shields to determine if they are fiberglass or metal. Maybe, with some time, if you describe exactly where they are, I could try to look Monday after work and report back.

Kent,
Heat shields are located on underside of car, between frame and exhaust pipe just about 6 inches forward of front edge of door. They are about 10 inches in width. Easily touched or seen from side of car.

Ammendment

Sorry, I should have been more explisit. Did 1969 large block side exhaust cars have these underbody heat shields? Are they the same as splash shields inside the front quarters and fore of the firewall (upper toe pan extension)? If so, I'll try to look at mine after work tomorrow and report the results.

Good question! I'm not sure, Paragon's catalgue doesn't seem to indicate that the 'side exhaust' make any difference.
One thing for sure, you definitely own the car of my dreams and many others, I'm sure.

Yours don't look so bad either. Wish my top went down on the '69. Oh well, guess my '67 A/C base 4-speed roadster will have to suffice.
