I've been working on dialing in the stock carb on my '66 L36. It's an original professionally rebuilt list 3606 Holly for a A.I.R. 427.
I adjusted per the manual, and the car tended to run a bit lean (the car bogged on take-off), and the residue in the tailpipe was a very light grey.
I turned both mixture screws another 1/2 turn out and she runs much better, but the residue the the tail pipes are different from right to left: the left bank leaves a little bit more of a gray/tan residue, while the right bank leaves the same very light grey residue.
I would think that both screws should match the same lean/rich mixture by turning the same amount. Should I adjust by tailpipe residue, or always adjust the screws the exact same amount?
