Picked up a nice 40 yr old bell housing with very little corrosion but needs a good cleaning. Any and all recommendations will be accepted. Would consider re-skinning if that is the best way to go. Thanks in advance.

Re: Cleaning aluminum bell housing
Jack: Eagle makes a wheel cleaner for non-clearcoated aluminum wheels. It's got phosphoric acid in it -- does a great job. As a final step, I scrub it down with Comet cleanser to brighten it up a little.
At times, I've had to use methylene chloride paint stripper as the first step, if it was really nasty.- Top
