    TH400 Yoke Freeplay Clearance...

Is there a spec or rule of thumb regarding freeplay clearance on transmission yokes when trying to determine a correct driveshaft length before the yoke "bottoms out" in the tranny. This "Corvette" has a "solid axle" leaf spring configuration. One transmission friend suggested that 1/2" to 5/8" would be appropriate... I would appreciate a second, third or forth opinion. Thanks, Dennis

      TH400 Yoke Freeplay Clearance... Bill...

Wheel base measures 115" inches, about the same as a '57 Nomad. The present driveshaft (c/l to c/l) is about 52" long. I would estimate it needs to be shortened about 1"... That would provide a 1/2" to 5/8" "clearance"...
      What'cha think. Thanks, Dennis
