    c -1 1958 black smoke

Hi, I have black smoke on acceleration. We are thinking it might be time to do some engine work. There has been no engine work done on this car that I am aware of. We are not sure where to start to fix the problem. I have been told to start with the seals. The engine is a 283. Any advice on where to start? Regards and thanks
    Susan

      Susan,

As Roy said, black smoke is too much fuel.
That would suggest a look at the carburetor(s).
Do the simple and cheap things first before you spend big money on an engine rebuild.
