    C1 suspension lubrication question

I have put about 1800 miles on a complete body-off restoration of my '61. The entire front suspension was rebuilt with new parts and properly lubed before being driven. Now I am hearing a creaking sound from my front suspension whenever the a-arms go up or down. I have re-lubed all the grease fittings, but noticed that nothing goes in the ones on the ends of the control arms. If I remember correctly, those shafts are solid, so why is there a grease fitting on them at all? Once the void between the cap and the end of the shaft is full, where would it go? I guess my question is: is there supposed to be any lube between the end caps and where they fit into the a-arms? Or is maybe my creaking coming from the spring rubbing against the a-arm?

Keep pumping until you see grease - all those joints are metal-to-metal.

That is a true statement. If you don't see grease oozing out, it doesn't have enough!

Thanks. Maybe I just need a better grease gun.

Or the grease fitting is bad. Rob
