C2 Striker Shims - Still Available?

I've had a slight problem with the closing of the driver's door on the '63. Today I took a good look at things, and I can see that the latch is rubbing against the face of the striker ass'y.

I see in the AIM that there were two striker shims available, 4885750 (.12") and 4885748 (.06"). I currently have a single .12" shim. So I want to replace it with the .06" shim.

I'm wondering if this is a generic part used on all GM strikers of the era and if maybe it might still be available under a different part number.

Both the GM #4885748 and the 4885750 spacers were discontinued without supercession in October, 1973. I don't know if they are available in reproduction, or not. The spacers were also used on 1963-64 full size passenger cars across all GM car lines.

Long Island Corvette Supply has the shim you are looking for. Section 9, Item 84A. I bought one about a month ago. I had the identical problem. The shim solved the problem. I could have eliminated the shim altogether but was uncertain if that would have been a correct configuration. Maybe someone else more knowledgeable can comment on whether or not the shims must be used.
