    C-3, 1970 seven blade fan

The fan blade on my 1970 LS-5 has the correct numbers and date for my car but the very tips are missing, approximately 1/2". They are all so uniform that it appears factory. I am stumped why anyone would remove the tips if they did at all. Did all 1970 LS-5 fan blades made for AC cars have the tips that come to a point? Although my engine was cast in late February 1970 and car built in March 1970 I have a chance to buy a nice, correct D70 blade that does have the tips.

    Thanks,
    Scott

We believe all BB C60 1970 fans have the extended tips. Why would someone remove them? Ever try to fit a fan shroud and a fan on a Corvette that has been biffed in the nose? There are actually shims between the engine and engine mount to center the fan in the opening of the shroud. A little tap on the nose and the fan hits the shroud with negative results to the fan and sometimes the shroud as well. Easiest cure for Bubba is a fan with no tips.
Even a deteriorated engine mount will cause contact between the fan and shroud with the same negative results.
