    67 Redlines - Points deduction ?

I am taking my 67 vert for flight judging next month, and would like to use either Firestone SS redlines or Goodyear Power Cushion redlines. Since redlines were optional in 67, do I have to have standard w/wall or blackwall tires to avoid a deuction. i know i will take a hit for DOT labels, but I don't want to take another hit because I have an optional item on he car.

The car will be judged as presented.
If the components were available as standard or a regular production option, there should be no deductions, since the current Judging Guide, Fourth Edition lists both, as well as the Uniroyal High Performance as available optional tires for '67.
They will however be scrutinized for the accuracy to the originals, condition and a full set of five matching wheels and tires.
    H. a. N. D. and Good Luck with your endeavor.

"They will however be scrutinized for the accuracy to the originals, condition and a full set of five matching wheels and tires."

Unless something's changed, the judging rules used to allow the spare tire to be different (mfgr/model) than the four mounted tires in order to preserve the handful of existing untouched originals stored in the spare tire compartment that saw no/little use...

        That is my interpretation also.
The spare is judged separate to the other four tires and wheels. You can have redlines on the car and a black or white wall spare.

        Good luck with the Judging.

That is where the confusion comes into play. I would like to get (4) repro redlines that are "lokk alike" DOT label tires, and I have a blackwall original BF Goodrich "non DOT" tire for the spare. Can I grab some extra points by having a "real" mid year spare tire, even though it is a blackwall, yet have redlines on all 4 corners ? Or am I better off getting (5) repro redlines and sell the original tire ?

Yes you will get more points with an original spare as long as it is in PERFECT condition. There is a 3 point deduction for a correct repro DOT spare. If your original spare is worn it may get the same 3 point deduction for condition. But if it is in perfect condition it will get no deductions. I hope this helps.
