    C2:67 I'm a happy camper now!

Well, I think I've finished my 3810 project. Here it is on a newly painted engine:

Hard to believe, that this is what the carb (dated 751) looked like when I started:

I'd like to thank Clem Zahrobsky and Joe Ciaravino for their advice on this carb, especially on the blocked high speed vents. Thanks to them, I finally got the guts to drill them out along with the vent hole in the metering block.
Turned out to be a pretty easy job with a pin vise and the proper wire gage drill bits. Now it's all to Holley specs.

Took it out for a spin this afternoon and it ran pretty smooth, although I need to adjust the secondary float again. Think its hanging on the metering plate. Used two gaskets against the metering plate.

On the paint job, I realize I need to paint the valve cover bolts and reinforcements, but I'm going to hold off on the carburetor return spring plate until I've researched the issue a little more. I'll swear it was unpainted the first time I took it off. I zinc plated it, as that was how I found it.

One question; Does the PCV hose run under or over the fuel line from pump to carb?

    Having fun!

Jerry, It looks just like my engine! The pcv hose appears to be slightly too long as it should be touching the valve cover for a distance of about 2-3".. Jeff is correct in that it has a preformed gradual right angle on the carb end. The hose does run over the top of the fuel line.

you need to trim off the excess rubber tip on the bowl vent seal or it will hit the air cleaner.cut it just above the cone shaped part of the rubber seal. do you have a nitrophyl float in the secondary because the arm is too long on a brass float and will cause the float to hit the secondary metering plate

Thanks Clem, I'm going to try that.

Do you think the problem could be related to the boiling point of gas these days. I've seen some posts on this in the last couple of months. I can only get 91 in my area.

Here's what happens: The carb runs perfectly when it is cold, on high speed accelleration, and just cruising. After a run, at hot idle for a while, the temperature goes up, and then it starts idling erratically. When this happened, I pulled the air cleaner and noticed that there was a drip, drip, drip of gas from the secondary fuel bowl into the air horn, nothing on the primary side.

If it is the boiling point of gas, is there any additive that can increase the boiling point.
